The New York Times’ review boiled down to “it’s no Pale Fire”, and the Guardian claimed the book too glib to inspire an emotional response. I liked it more than, say, Hey Nostradamus precisely because it was glib, but then that opinion may be coloured by my disgust at P.S. I Love You.
